Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Outpatient-Based Lab (OBL) Nurse to join our Interventional Radiology team! This role involves preparing patients for procedures, administering and monitoring moderate sedation, and ensuring optimal recovery post-procedure. The ideal candidate will work within the scope of practice under the authority of the attending physician while collaborating with clinical leadership. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Procedure Responsibilities:
- Plan, manage, and deliver direct patient care utilizing nursing best practices
- Conduct pre-procedure assessments, including vital signs, patient history, and lab reviews
- Educate patients and families about the procedure, risks, and post-procedure care
- Coordinate patient flow and prepare procedure rooms with necessary equipment
Intra-Operative Duties:
- Administer and monitor moderate sedation throughout procedures
- Start IVs and monitor 3- & 5-lead EKGs, CO2 levels
- Assist the physician, NP, or PA during procedures
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols
- Document intra-operative care and any significant events
Post-Procedure & Recovery:
- Monitor patients in recovery, assessing their response to sedation and procedures
- Manage pain, nausea, or any post-procedure symptoms
- Provide discharge instructions and coordinate follow-up care as needed
- Complete accurate and timely documentation using electronic medical records
Qualifications:
- Pre/intra/post-surgical experience required
- Proficiency in IV starts required
- Experience with moderate sedation preferred
- Critical care background (ER, ICU, PACU) preferred
- BLS & ACLS certification required
- Current RN license in Minnesota
