Position Title: Ultrasound Technologist (Part-Time, 0.2 FTE)

Schedule: 1 full day per week or 2 half-days per week

Reports : Outpatient Clinic

 Position Summary

North Star Vascular & Interventional is seeking a part-time Registered Ultrasound Technologist to support our growing outpatient practice. This individual will perform a mix of vascular and general ultrasound studies with an emphasis on high-quality imaging, clinical accuracy, and exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate is vascular-trained, comfortable working autonomously in a high-performing clinical environment, and capable of adapting to a broad range of IR-adjacent diagnostic needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform vascular ultrasound examinations, including:
    • Arterial duplex (upper and lower extremities)
    • Venous duplex for DVT evaluation and chronic venous insufficiency
    • Pre-procedure mapping for endovascular interventions

  • Perform general and IR-adjacent ultrasound studies, including:
    • Thyroid ultrasound and nodule characterization
    • Uterine fibroid assessment (US uterus)
    • Prostate sizing and bladder volume measurement
    • Abdominal and pelvic general ultrasound as appropriate
  • Provide preliminary technical impressions to the physician and flag urgent or unexpected findings.
  • Ensure proper documentation, labeling, measurement accuracy, and image optimization according to practice protocols.
  • Assist with workflow coordination, patient intake, and exam sequencing to optimize clinic efficiency.
  • Maintain equipment performance through routine quality checks and communicate service needs proactively.
  • Uphold all safety, infection control, and compliance standards relevant to an outpatient radiology/IR setting.
  • Deliver a patient-centered experience aligned with North Star’s commitment to minimally invasive, high-touch care.

Qualifications

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) required.
  • RVT or RVS credential strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of vascular ultrasound experience; outpatient clinic or IR setting experience desirable.
  • Proficiency in arterial/venous duplex, thyroid imaging, pelvic ultrasound, and prostate volume assessment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer-service skills with an ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable performing exams with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with physicians and clinical staff.

Workload & Expectations

  • Approximately 0.2 FTE: option of 1 full clinic day or 2 half-days per week.
  • Consistent availability and punctuality required for reliable clinic operations.
