In partnership with industry leaders, Golden Valley, Minnesota-based North Star Vascular & Interventional is bringing together international faculty to train interventional radiologists, gastroenterologists and colorectal surgeons on the Hemorrhoid Artery Embolization (HAE) procedure. HAE is a new and minimally invasive treatment for chronic hemorrhoids that offers many advantages to patients seeking an alternative to surgery and its long, often painful recovery.
The leading regional center of excellence for minimally invasive vascular and interventional radiology treatment, North Star is the only practice in the Twin Cities offering HAE as a dedicated program. Having hosted similar summits for other minimally invasive procedures, they have established a strong reputation as a national teaching center to help train the next generation of experts in this very popular procedure.

HAE is an outpatient, non-surgical procedure. Using imaging, a doctor guides a tiny catheter through a small opening in the wrist or groin to the blood vessels that feed the hemorrhoid. Tiny embolic particles or special coils are then placed within the vessel to block blood flow. This effectively shrinks the hemorrhoid from the inside. No cutting or stitches within the rectum is required, and the patient can return home shortly after the procedure and resume normal activities.
